To lock mounted film
into place on the glass surface by squeegeeing a small or large area. This keeps the
wetted film from slipping around when working on it.
Bondo
Bondo spreader with a fresh sharp edge. These little plastic spreaders are what body
shops use to spread bondo on fenders with. We use them for squeegeeing stubborn areas
(usually in conjunction with a hair drier) and tight crevasses (like gasket channels and
so forth) where a rubber squeegee won't fit.
Cleaning Solution
a solution used to clean/prep the surface of the glass for
installation of window film. Click here to purchase access to our tutorial ($39.95)and also see what we
use and the mixing ratios.
Clear
Protective Liner
The clear plastic that is located on one side
of unpeeled window film that comes off the roll. It protects the sticky adhesive from
sticking to itself, from debris and everything else. It is to
be left on the film until cut and ready to install. Once
removed, the sticky adhesive is exposed and then is ready to be deactivated (stickiness)
by immediately spraying with your mounting solution for installation.
Fingers
A term used to describe stress wrinkles in the installation of window film that
resembles a finger. Usually appears on the outer edges of curved glass.
Flood - Flooding
Flushing heavily with your mounting solution
and high volume sprayer to remove dirt and debris particles from either the glass
surface or film surface.
Flush - Flushing
Rinsing with your mounting solution and high
volume sprayer to remove dirt and debris particles from either the glass surface or
film surface.
Matrix Dots
Matrix dots are usually located at the top portion of the rear wind shield (like
newer Camaros, Firebirds, Mustangs, etc....) or around the edges. These black dots or
lines are a sun screen fused onto the glass to help keep the sun off peoples heads that
sit in the back seat or used as trim around the outer edges of windows. They are a raised
surface on the glass that tends to push the film away from the surface.
Mount - Mounting
Laying film on the surface of glass for
cutting or installation.
Mounting Solution
Is a solution used to deactivate the adhesive
on peeled film while installing the film to the glass. Click here to purchase access to our tutorial ($39.95)and also see what we
use and the mixing ratios.
Prep - Prepping
Preparing the surface of the glass for
installation of window film.

a fresh sharp edge to use for all your general cleaning and mounting procedures. It is
used to remove water solutions from surfaces. This will be your main squeegee that you will
use most of the time, so get a good one with a nice clean un-nicked edge.
